Lease reassessments and modifications
Even without contract changes, estimates for renewal, termination, or purchase options may change, impacting the balance sheet. SOFT4Lessee detects these changes, calculates impacts on lease liability and right-of-use asset values, and passes reassessment records to the General Ledger. The system also handles lease modifications after commencement, automatically calculating impacts and producing appropriate General Ledger postings.
Corrections to previous periods
New leases and lease modifications may have effective dates in the past for various reasons (such as late paperwork). As information comes to the accounting system, the General Ledger period may already be closed and management reports prepared. SOFT4Lessee allows (through a configurable option) retrospective lease updates, with General Ledger postings catching up in the current period to ensure accurate historical records and compliance.
