SOFT4Lessee automates the handling of lease payments that fluctuate over time based on external indices or interest rates such as CPI or benchmark rates. It recalculates payment amounts, tracks repricing dates, and updates lease liability for compliance.
Managing variable lease payments
As per lease accounting standard requirements, variable lease payments are excluded from the calculation of lease assets and liabilities, unless they depend on an index or rate (such as interest or inflation rates) or are, in substance, fixed payments. SOFT4Lessee measures variable lease payments that depend on an index or rate using the index or rate at the commencement date, and applies future changes in the index or rate until the next repricing period.
Re-pricing variable leases
If there are leases with variable lease payments dependent on an index (like the Consumer Price Index) or reference interest rate (like LIBOR, EURIBOR), the system can calculate re-pricing and reflect it in the accounting, as per lease accounting standard requirements. This ensures accurate liability adjustments when rates change.
